Have you ever heard of the South Tyrolean Waalwege trails? These trails follow the water channels that lead the mountain water to the more arid farm fields. Originally, these trails were made for the maintenance of the water channels and wind through orchards, fields and woods. Today, they are popular hiking trails, especially suited to families with children as they are rather flat. The Tappeinerweg route is especially relaxing. It is the town’s most famous route, named after the physician, botanist and anthropologist Franz Trappeiner, and leads through Mediterranean, Alpine and exotic vegetation, sunny and protected from the wind.
The old Muther Weg trail offers a relatively easy climb through beautiful scenery all the way to the Muthöfen farms. A hike in the Passiria valley offers breathtaking views of the Stieber waterfalls. Further up, you can wander along the ridge of Mount Tschögglberg. Here you find thick woods, impressive fields and mountain pastures. An ideal location for relaxing and hiking with the whole family!
